The mushrooming of various beauty treatments that exist today makes it easier for us to pamper and care for the body. Well, have you ever heard of mesotherapy? Mesotherapy is a face and body treatment from France which is currently being talked about in cyberspace, thanks to its many benefits. Indeed, what are the benefits? Can it really make us look younger?

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical beauty treatment by injecting liquids containing vitamins, enzymes, extracts and special hormones using thin needles into the subcutaneous layer in the middle of the skin, namely mesoderm. The mesoderm layer is one of the cell structures in the skin which is responsible for composing body shape.

Is it effective to make you young?
The main purpose of mesotherapy was originally to treat diseases. Over time, this procedure is more widely used for aesthetic and body care purposes such as:

  • Rejuvenate and tighten the skin.
  • Remove excess fat in the face, arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips and legs.
  • Fade wrinkles and fine lines on the face.
  • Fade skin pigmentation, such as black spots and brown stains.
  • Overcoming cellulite.
  • Treating hair baldness (alopecia areata).

Unfortunately, so far there have been no studies that can really prove the benefits and safety of mesotherapy procedures for beauty.

Reporting from Healthline, a study published in the International Journal of Dermatology reported that mesotherapy did not produce a noticeable change in the fading of wrinkles and fine lines on the faces of people who were routinely treated for 6 consecutive months.

Are there any risks of side effects?

Mesotherapy was originally intended as a medical treatment. So actually, this procedure is not much different from other health therapies that also save the risk of side effects.

Various possible risks of side effects that may arise are:

  • Nausea.
  • Pain or pain in the area of the body that is injected.
  • Swelling in some parts of the body after therapy.
  • Itching, rash and redness appear on the skin of the injection area.
  • Injection skin looks slightly bruised and swollen.
  • Scars arise
